Process

Meeting you on site, discussing your vision, ideas and goals for the project is the exciting part for us. There is no substitute for seeing in person where your ideas and project will take shape. With this information in hand we will go back to our studio to come up with some possible ideas, and will produce a number of scale sketches. We consider this process to be a dialogue where we take the best part of everyone’s ideas until we filter it to the right solution. We have the unique ability and resources to customize work from a small-scale single piece, to an entire room, to an outdoor environment or structure. We work in a wide variety of materials including but not limited to metal, wood and concrete according to your unique space and needs. Once an idea and design is agreed upon we can begin work. Price and time will depend on the materials used and scope of each project.

Examples

Below are some examples of projects we are currently working on or have completed for clients with a more detailed description of our process.

Loram sculpture in Process

This project is for a company that was looking for a large-scale sculpture for their newly re-done lobby. They wanted a sculpture that would represent their past, present and future as a company. After looking through their company archives and video I realized that there were 3 pieces of equipment that were important to their business. I created an overall design that integrated these 3 separate iconic images into a cohesive artistic whole

Bohmert Fireplace Installation

This client was working with Schreier Designs for an overall room re-design. The designer explained his vision for the overall look of the room and that they wanted the fireplace to be wrapped in metal with a special patina. We came up with a design that wrapped the fireplace surround in a patinated metal and continued the patinated metal design onto the two bay walls on either side for a dramatic and complete look.

balcony railing

Custom Balcony Railing

This was an upgrade to a historic Minneapolis building. The client needed to bring the railing up to code. We proposed adding an a decorative steel cutout on top of the existing railing instead of replacing the whole railing. The decorative steel cutouts were modeled off of the stained glass panels above the front door.
